Our Story

21 Years Protecting Charlotte Homes

Dave Martinez grew up in Charlotte. After spending 10 years working for a large regional roofing company, he saw an opportunity: Charlotte homeowners deserved a local contractor who actually knew the area's weather patterns, building codes, and HOA requirements — not a national chain sending whoever was available.

Apex Roofing Group launched in 2005 with 3 employees and a truck. After navigating Hurricane Frances and two major hail events in the first five years, word spread fast that Apex was the company that showed up, documented everything, and handled insurance claims correctly.

In 2019, Dave's son Carlos joined the company as operations manager after completing his roofing certification — bringing digital project management and an expanded commercial roofing division that now serves some of Charlotte's largest commercial properties.

28 years in roofing. Charlotte native. Lic. #30185. GAF Master Elite certified. Has personally overseen more than 5,000 Charlotte-area roof projects and navigated hundreds of insurance claims. Still gets on roofs regularly.

Carlos Martinez

Operations Manager

Dave's son. Joined Apex in 2019. Manages project scheduling, crew coordination, and the commercial division. Certified in flat roofing systems (TPO, EPDM). Responsible for Apex's reputation for on-time, on-budget delivery.

Lisa Thompson

Customer Relations & Insurance Coordinator

10 years with Apex. Lisa coordinates all insurance claims, manages customer communications, and ensures every homeowner understands every step of their project. If you've had a smooth insurance claim experience with us, Lisa made it happen.
